JAPANESE:日本語はこちら
In 2026, the once-every-60-years Fire Horse Year returns — a moment that has carried heavy, unfair myths in Japan for generations.
Blaze in Orange 2026 is here to flip the script: to transform a year once feared into a global celebration of strength, resilience, and joy.
Orange is our banner — a bold blaze of renewal and possibility.
Let’s rewrite the narrative together.
Let’s turn superstition into strength and reclaim the Fire Horse as a symbol of fiery courage, fearless resilience, and unstoppable spirit — a worldwide once-in-60-years celebration.

2026 — the Fire Horse Year.
Let’s rise. Let’s blaze. Let’s make it unforgettable.

What is the Fire Horse?

The Fire Horse—or Hinoe Uma (丙午) in Japanese—is one of the 60 signs in the traditional East Asian zodiac. It combines the intensity of fire with the untamed power of the horse, symbolizing passion, independence, and unstoppable energy.
This rare year comes only once every 60 years. Yet in Japanese history, women born in the Fire Horse Year have carried the weight of a deeply damaging superstition—that “Fire Horse women devour men.”
A myth with no scientific or cultural basis, yet believed for centuries.
Every time the Fire Horse Year returned, so did fear, stigma, and gender-biased discrimination.

A Dark History of Harm

In earlier centuries, baby girls were killed at birth because families feared they would “bring misfortune.”
Fire Horse women of the 1906 Meiji Era faced the same cruelty. Marriage prospects were denied solely because of the year they were born. Isolation, despair, and tragically, suicides followed.
1966—The Most Recent Fire Horse Year
The superstition erupted again.
Media repeated the myth.
Elders warned their families.
A national panic spread.
The consequences were staggering: Japan’s birthrate plunged 25% in a single year.
Families avoided pregnancy.
An estimated 450,000 babies were never born, all because of fear driven by an outdated superstition.

Reclaiming the Fire Horse—A Message from a 1966 Fire Horse Woman

I am a 1966 Fire Horse woman—
founder of Go Feisty!, organizer of the Blaze in Orange 2026 movement, and author of FEISTY: The Accidental Beginning, a book inspired by my experience as a Fire Horse immigrant in America.
And I say proudly:
“Yes, I’m a Fire Horse.”

People often remark, “That explains it—you’re so feisty.”
And honestly?  They’re right.
Too intense?
Too strong-willed?
Bad luck for men?
We’ve heard it all.
Yet we have lived boldly, with strength and pride—refusing to be defined by outdated superstition or prejudice.
Those of us who were fortunate enough to be born as Fire Horses understand how fear-driven myths can push society into harmful actions.
That is why we carry a responsibility.

With the Fire Horse Year returning in 2026, our mission is clear:
to break the chain of discrimination once and for all—and rewrite the narrative.
For Fire Horses 60 or 120 years from now—
in any era, under any circumstances—
they must never again be scapegoated or made to suffer because of their gender or birth year.

Because Fire Horse women do not devour men.
Because the superstition was fake news before “fake news” even existed..
Because Fire Horses are, in truth, the once-in-60-years thoroughbreds of the zodiac.

The old, cruel superstition in Japan is finished—gone.
A new Fire Horse spirit is rising.
To light the way for future Fire Horses, we begin with color—our new flame.

Blaze in Orange

To ignite a new tradition that will carry on for generations, we’ve chosen orange as the enduring color of the Fire Horse—
for 2026, for 2086, for 2146, and every Fire Horse Year to come.
It symbolizes fiery strength, radiant energy, and bold celebration.
Around the world, we invite you to wear orange, share orange, gift orange, and create in orange.
Let’s rise together and begin a new Fire Horse tradition:
celebrating in blazing orange.

We want the world to remember the true Fire Horse Spirit as:
Fire Horse = Fierce Spirit = Once-in-60-Years Brilliance = A Year to Be Celebrated in Blazing Orange—by everyone.

Fire Horse 1966 — Kanreki in Orange

In Japan, the 60th birthday is called Kanreki(還暦)—a milestone marking one’s return to their birth zodiac, traditionally celebrated with a red vest and hat to symbolize rebirth.
But we, the Fire Horses, are flipping the tradition.
Forget the red—celebrate in bold, blazing orange.
Even if your culture doesn’t recognize 6o as a special milestone, let’s make 2026 once!

If you’re turning 60 in 2026, wherever you are in the world, you are part of a once-in-60-years generation—the Fire Horses.
Wear orange and celebrate big!

Fire Horse 2026

Let’s celebrate the arrival of the new generation of Fire Horse babies—by welcoming them with orange gifts, fierce love, and a pride no superstition can touch.
Tell them, “You were born in a rare and extraordinary year.”
Let that message shine through the vibrant power of orange.
Instead of avoiding Fire Horses, we want the world to look forward to their arrival—
to welcome Fire Horse babies as the rare, brilliant, once-in-60-years gifts they truly are.

And for those dreaming of a child—
yes, there’s still time to make it a 2026 Fire Horse Baby.

Everyone Else—Let’s Blaze in Orange Together!

Blaze in orange all year long in 2026!
Let’s turn 2026 into one giant celebration in orange.

Everyone can join!
Wear orange.
Gift orange.

To creators:
Make orange your muse. Create boldly in orange!

To retailers and brands:
Feature orange. Highlight orange. Celebrate orange!

Please follow @firehorse2026 and share your creations on social media with #FireHorse2026 and #BlazeInOrange2026.
We’ll highlight your posts, too.

And to the media—
we challenge you to lead the way.

Sixty years ago, before the last Fire Horse Year, the Japanese media succeeded in spreading fear—
amplifying an old superstition so powerfully that it left a lasting mark on society. That is the strength of media influence.

This time, we ask the global media to use that same power not to ignite fear, but to ignite joy—
to help write a new legend for the Fire Horse Year.

A once-in-60-years celebration is about to begin.
And with your reach and influence, you can help the world see 2026 for what it truly is: a vibrant, blazing Orange Year of celebration.

You’ve shaped society before.
You can do it again—
this time for good.

From fashion to art, from home goods to marketing campaigns—
let’s set the world ablaze in fearless orange.

Just as the world recognizes the rhythm of the Olympics every four years,
we want the Fire Horse Year to be recognized globally every sixty years.

The Future We Dream Of

Together, we can spark a cultural shift so powerful that instead of avoiding the Fire Horse Year, people will embrace it—with joy, pride, and blazing confidence.
We want future generations of Fire Horses to proudly declare,
“I’m a Fire Horse,”
and be admired for it around the world.

🔥 2026—the Fire Horse Year.
Let’s rise together.
Let’s make it unforgettable.
Let’s Blaze in Orange.
